Can somewhat explain to me what just happened?

I log on after a DAY and I have two PMs from Gardevoir about how he's deleting his account and how the community, the game and its staff "have gone to shit in the past three weeks". What the hell just happened? What did I miss? All I know is the game's name is changing...
