- The FAQ merely states that Elo is calculated "similar to CP in Coalition wars and depends on the difference between the Elo of the opponents." http://atwar-game.com/home/faq.php?faq_id=40

- CP, according to the FAQ is "CC1 / CC2 * 50, where competence of one coalition is divided on competence of another and multiplied by 50. Let's say your Coalition has competence of 1 and another one has 2. By winning, you would get 2 / 1 * 50 = 100 points and your competence would increase by 0.1 (100 / 1000). By losing, you would lose no points, but the competence would decrease by 0.025 (1 / 2 * 50 / 1000)." This does not help me.

- I have observed that players of exactly the same Elo, risk winning or losing 12.5 Elo, but placing 12.5 in the above formula yields me no greater understanding.

- Chess Elo is of little help because there are two variables either missing or unknown to me.

By "similar", it doens't mean that the "range" is the same. Though, I don't know what the formula is, all I know is that 20 is max you can win/lose, and 0.1 is min.
If I'm not wrong, loser / winner * 12.5 = ELO.
