Germany.

Alaska, Greenland, Fiji and Hawaii are the worst but with afterwind's reinforcement compensation system any country can be good with skill and strategy.

Laos is a great cheap country for expansion, i disagree on it being the worst.

It's not the worst, far from it, but it's impossible to call it great. It is in fact the only financially viable choice in the region though except Cambodia. Bangladesh is too far away from any capitals of powerful countries to be a great initial country.

Ive never heard of lesotho so it probably is the worst.

Lesotho is a country INSIDE South Africa. Its capital is Maseru, and there's only 1 reinforcement. However, with the majority of players taking countries with a lot more than 1 reinforcement, you might be able to buy 10-15 units to start the game.

Mauritius has got to easily be the worst country in the game. Not only is it located in a low income region of the map, but it also is not within striking distance of any other city.

With that one reinforcements you can take Switzerland, and expand pretty fast in a few rounds.
