Greeks for thousands of years ran the world through there philosophy and ethical code, only to be destroyed time and time again from about 700 ad till present, I sometime wonder what the world would be like if the Greek pushed back the Slavic and germania hordes, destroyed islam or better yet never left the Indus river. Under hellenic culture this world grew exponentially, but look at us now. There's a good chance we'll completely destroy our own race soon.

Man evolves without prejudices, if he didn't invent it someone else would have. Hell if the greeks remained strong and we never experiance the dark ages we could be 400 years more advanced for all we know. Even though that's just speculation. Whats the problem here? He is talking about the Byzantine empire getting hammered by all sides from almost every piece of barbarian scum existed, From Persians, goths, vandals and normans to Avars, Slavs and Bulgars to Russians and Hungarians to 50 shades of muslim (sassanids, ummayad, abbasids, fatimids) to subhuman waste of oxygen (turks & albanians) and even backstabbing christian hypocrite crusaders and what could have been if the Byzantine empire could emerge victorious after all this and hellenic culture continued having influence, instead of the current version of history which resulted in a corrupted, on a process of destruction, world, being run by 5 neoliberal maniacs and their German puppets that allow muslim terrorists to colonize the West freely.

I am anti-bank, modern Anglo and french sold there countries to banks. Same as alot of the world. Those who are to poor to invest in banks keep in a perpetual state of anarchy and war which is very profitable to the companies that clEan up the mess. I'm fond of russia for not allowing themselves to be controlled by banks, and I'm proud of most slavs supporting russia, so in turn I kinda like you <3

Timurids and Seljuks were not Persians, they were Mongols and Turks respectively. Their armies barely had any Persians in them and the Persian people hated them.

In all seriousness it wasn't a single factor that killed the empire, but instead all of them at once during diferent eras of termoil against diferent foes. Any time an Islamic caliphate died a more radical version would spring up looking for glory in the name of there religion looking twards the last bastion of christianity in the middle east.

Mistake of me to put Sassanids with the muslim brotherhood, apologies. I believe all of the different factions combined are the reason the Byzantine empire fell, but if i were to choose a single most destructive force, i would certainly choose the Muslims. I think they did the most damage and in the end they were the ones who took Constantinople, along with most of Greece's traditional territories and spread the cancerous Islamic culture to the Balkans. You can see the results today in the forever fucked up Balkans. Thats what Islam gifted us.

Germania (and France,Uk) was safe and too far from Islamic threat and thats the reason they accept Muslims with open arms, now. You are going to learn your lesson dont worry, just like we did. Cologne people are already starting to get an idea of whats gonna happen to them.

But i believe Heli's point (and mine) was not to bash all the factions that attacked the Byzantines, rather to point out, that Western culture and civilization took its recent form from Germanic and Anglo-Saxon influence, ever since the Eastern Roman empire's demise and loss of influence. It would be very interesting to see what "could have been" if the Byzantine empire survived and Hellenism continued its spread to Central and NorthWestern Europe.

Well i didnt suddenly turned into a racist. I think im becoming more pragmatic and informed. I am not blaming Germany for the greek crisis, rather Greece's destruction. Greece is responsible for buying heroin from Germany, i admit that. ( entered EU, got loans) But Germany is responsible for stabbing Greece, again and again, with the purpose of murdering her ( logical conclusion after analyzing the facts, not my opinion) and try to publicly portray it as "help". ( Austerity measures, privatizations, media propaganda)

Again these are facts, the austerity "program" Germany forces unto Greece just pushes her deeper and deeper into financial ruin, privetazitions for ridiculously cheap prices help noone, except the big corporations that are destroying the world. As for propaganda im not even gonna start, ill have to write a book. The very term "bailout packages" is a fucking oxymoron and German people have been using lies, failed stereotypes, missinformation and fabrications to paint Greeks in a bad light, for a good 10 years now. Evidence and statistics are used to debunk one after the other ( Greeks are lazy, Greeks are corrupted, Greeks cant into economics, European taxpayers pay Greeks and so on) but the propaganda is so strong and the average European so naive and uninformed, that the public opinion still stands.

And no, we could not leave the Union. They wouldnt let us.

Serbia was pretty much the final punch to Byzantia. Crusaders invasion of 1204 was for sure the end for Byzantines in the long run, they never recovered from European sacking, but Serbian occupation of Greece and beating Greek Army on the battlefield was definite blow. That Greek Army could be better used against Arabs, Turks and Mongols on the East, instead dying in Europe.

But Byzantia also made mistake by inviting Turks to cross Dardenelles and settle in Rumelia (South Bulgaria). They gave them land in return for military, so they can defend from Serbia. They didn't think long-term. Yet, no one knew small turcic tribe of few thousand would occupy so much land and become an empire.

Meh, idk, Dusan didnt have major battle in open ground against Empire, he just sieged and captured citie after citie with not much resistance cuz civil war was raging in Constantinople. After his death his half brother soon pulled out majority of greek lands from Serbian empire. Major cities were still in greeks hand, Thessaloniki, Dyrrhachion and Athens.

And i just want to say about Germany, since you're talking about it that Germany want Greek islands, you have to realize Germany is northern cold country while Greece have paradise beaches. Buying (extorting) islands from Greece will make them enable to spend less on tourism while enjoying in the same amount. They can regulate prices to suit their people, instead letting Greeks to decide price in their private property. They need warm South. Similar happened to all great powers: America took Florida from Spain, England colonized 1/4 of the planet, Russian Empire invaded Persia, now Russian Federation made deal with Iran to build canal from Caspian Sea to Persian Gulf, which will enable Russia to get warm sea and port. Everyone need warm South..

A lot of Byzantine refugees fled to Russia, but many more went to Italy, and were one of the causes of the Renaissance. The successor of Byzantium and ancient Greeks, if anyone, in the 15th-19th century is Italian states and France.

Yeah, i do believe Russia to be a spiritual successor to Byzantia although to a certain extent. Russia certainly is the one holding orthodox christianity alive, although i do not like how friendly it is with its muslim community and advertising new mosques and etc when at the same time opresses its own minorities ( homosexuals, activists etc) and freedom of speech/expression. But then again, so did Christianity in Byzantine times, in fact Christianity was itself the biggest enemy to Hellenic culture. I trully believe the Romans were more "greek" in a sense than the Byzantines and i do not believe Russia or Usa can have the honour of being called a third Rome.

Yes but in my mind they were very much connected. Muslim invasions weakened the Byzantines enough so Turks could finish the job. But more importantly my butthurtness is not so much due to occupation by a foreign invader, but that the invader was Islamic. We missed the Renaisance and the enlightenment because of Islam and i believe this was the point of no return for us. We can never catch up to Western Europe now.

first of all, the average greek owns more than the average german. second, you are yearly getting a debt relief of ~100 billion euros because of the ECB having decreased the main intrest rates. third, the richer european countries are paying for that, and the countries earning the most of that are italy and spain, with a 200 billion per year each. fourth, yes, we do own a bmw, one that we got used for 10k € because we arent retarded and wasting money sucks

Islam conquered all of the Byzantine territory. Lands which were Christian were taken by force. Also, a German telling a Greek he should be more accepting of illegal invaders... I don't have a gif that properly represents my contemptuous facial expression right now. Nothing can quite express the face you give to a cuck. A mixture of malice and despair combined with disappointment and pity. I want to slap you, spit on you and pat you on the back at the same time...

Greece is also one of the biggest contributors to the EU. They would leave if they didn't have a corrupt cuck government. Golden Dawn... sooooon....
